Marie Anderson, Intern

Hello!  I’m Marie (she/her) a current graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University, with experience in substance abuse treatment.  I understand that choosing a mental health professional is a very personal decision, and it can sometimes feel challenging to find the right fit.  I offer a compassionate, caring space, for you to share your story free from judgement.  I utilize CBT and DBT models, as well as positive psychology, narrative therapy and motivational interviewing.  My goal is to empower and support you on this journey of growth and positive change.  Helping you to navigate the various challenges that life sometimes throws at us.  While you gain new insight into yourself, your relationships, and the things you find meaningful.

While I have trained and worked in substance abuse counseling for the past two years.  I am particularly interested in couples counseling, family dynamics, and the reintegration process that service members and the incarcerated population experience.  I myself am a Veteran, Combat Medic in the Army, and military spouse.  So, I understand the difficult reintegration process that service members and their families experience.  I also believe that people can and do change.  Therefore, previously incarcerated individuals should be given the same consideration when it comes to reintegrating into their communities, as anyone else.
