Dr. Elena Ollis, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Elena MZ Ollis is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP, PMHNP-BC). She earned her BSN in nursing with a minor in psychology from Seton Hall University. She conducted skilled nursing home visits before working as a psychiatric registered nurse at Princeton House, an inpatient psychiatric facility. Elena earned her Master's in Nursing with a PMHNP specialty from Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, in 2012. In May 2026, Elena earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Colorado, which deepened her research and quality improvement project skills and enhanced her academic and administrative leadership partnerships. Her QI project focused on aiding novice nurse practitioners in transitioning into practice by improving their confidence and competence through a mentorship intervention, with successful outcomes.
Dr. Ollis has been practicing as a PMHNP for the past 14 years across a variety of settings. These include nursing care facilities, where she served as a PMHNP liaison and consultant; an outpatient private practice; and a nonprofit outpatient psychiatric clinic, where she participated in an interdisciplinary NIH initiative focused on treating early-onset psychosis in adolescents and young adults. Over the past 6 years, Elena has been a member of the PVCHC provider team. As Peak Vista’s first PMHNP, Elena lent her expertise to numerous primary care providers, helped open this organization’s first psychiatric clinic, served as a clinical preceptor to multiple PMHNP students, provided didactic education to Family Nurse Practitioner Fellows, and has lectured at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. At the beginning of 2024, Elena transitioned to the role of Attending Faculty for the PMHNP Fellowship, another first for Peak Vista.
Throughout her career, Elena’s passion and professional drive have consistently focused on providing care to underserved populations in communities where care is most needed and least available. Elena’s Rogerian-style empathetic listening and her strong belief in evidence-based, shared decision-making practices have kept her engaged and passionate about her craft.
Her ultimate goal is to drive positive, meaningful change in academic and clinical settings to improve patient care and outcomes.
When not engaged in new professional ventures or further education, Elena enjoys playing the violin, reading, hiking, biking, and spending time with her husband and her daughter.
